Ulrich Kirchhoff is the principal and co-founder of ICE - Ideas for Contemporary Environments, a highly awarded Architect, Designer and Academic.With more than twelve years of work experience in Asia, he was the head of design at OMA Asia/RAD for seven years and realized several large scale commercial projects (including the first W-Hotel in Asia and the SK Telecom Headquarter) as well as public projects like the Jeonju University Star Centre.
In 2007 Ulrich’s design achievements were acknowledged with the granting of the Perspective award 40 under 40 for the 40 most influential designers in Greater China. In 2010 he exhibited at the Venice Biennale ‘Radical Mix’, a design driven research conducted with his students at the EPF Lausanne.
Ulrich has studied Architecture in Berlin, Germany at the Hochschule der Kuenste Berlin (HdK), where he received his professional degree as a Dipl.-Ing. Architect in 1999. He worked in Germany and Holland before he moved to Asia in 2001. The understanding of East and West deeply influences his way of thinking and his practice.
